“Sai Puja” refers to the worship and veneration of Shirdi Sainath, a revered spiritual saint (fakir). Sai Baba known for his teachings of love, compassion, and tolerance. Rituals practiced for Sai Baba, each with its own significance and purpose:

  1. Abhishek Puja: This puja involves the ceremonial bathing of the Sai Baba idol with various liquids like milk, water, honey, and sandalwood paste. It is believed to purify the idol and bestow blessings on the devotees.
  2. Sai Satya Vrat Puja: This is a special puja performed on Thursdays in which devotees fast and engage in prayers, chanting, and listening to the stories of Sai Baba. It is believed to fulfill wishes and bring spiritual progress.
  3. Akhand Sai Satcharitra Parayan: This is a continuous recitation of the “Sai Satcharitra,” a biography of Sai Baba’s life and teachings. Devotees take turns to read the book aloud for 24 hours, often concluding with an arati ceremony.
  4. Palki Seva: This is a procession in which the idol or picture of Sai Baba is carried in a palanquin by devotees, accompanied by devotional singing. It is usually done on festive occasions or special days.
  5. Sai Paduka Puja: Devotees perform this puja by worshipping the footwear (paduka) of Sai Baba. It symbolizes respect for his physical presence and is believed to bring his blessings.
  6. Sai Satyanarayan Puja: This is a combination of the Satyanarayan Puja and Sai Baba’s worship. It is performed to seek blessings for prosperity, happiness, and spiritual growth.
  7. Maha Samadhi Day Puja: On the anniversary of Sai Baba’s mahasamadhi (passing away), a special puja is performed to commemorate his life, teachings, and the impact he had on devotees.
  8. Guru Purnima Puja: This puja is performed on the occasion of Guru Purnima to honor Sai Baba as a spiritual guide and express gratitude for his teachings.
  9. Navaratri Sai Puja: During the nine days of Navaratri, devotees perform dedicated pujas, fasting, and chanting to seek blessings and protection from Sai Baba.
  10. Birthday Celebration Puja: On Sai Baba’s birthday, devotees celebrate with special pujas, bhajans (devotional songs), and distribution of prasad (sacred food offering)
  11. Sai Baba Pradosh Puja: This puja is performed during the Pradosh period, which is a specific time window dedicated to worshipping Lord Shiva. Devotees offer prayers to Sai Baba seeking his blessings and protection.
  12. Sai Baba Shirdi Saibaba Vrat Puja: This vrat (fasting) is observed with devotion, often for a specific number of days, with the intention of seeking Sai Baba’s blessings for a particular wish or goal.
  13. Sai Baba Rudrabhishek Puja: This elaborate puja involves offering sacred materials and performing rituals while chanting the Rudra mantra. It is believed to invoke the blessings and protection of Sai Baba.
  14. Sai Baba Ashtottara Puja: Devotees recite 108 names of Sai Baba along with prayers, seeking his blessings and grace for various aspects of life.
  15. Sai Baba Chalisa Path: The Sai Baba Chalisa is a set of 40 verses dedicated to him. Devotees recite these verses with devotion, often as a daily practice or on Thursdays.
  16. Sai Baba Maha Puja: This grand puja involves elaborate rituals, elaborate offerings, and chanting of Sai Baba’s mantras to invoke his divine presence and blessings.
  17. Sai Baba Annapurna Puja: Annapurna is the goddess of nourishment. This puja involves offering food to Sai Baba’s idol or image as a symbol of gratitude for his blessings and sustenance.
  18. Sai Baba Prarthana Sabha: Devotees gather to collectively recite prayers and songs dedicated to Sai Baba. It’s a way to engage in collective devotion and seek his blessings.
  19. Sai Baba Gayatri Mantra Japa: Devotees chant the Sai Baba Gayatri mantra as a way to connect with his spiritual energy and seek his guidance and blessings.
  20. Sai Baba Saptah: This is a seven-day devotion where devotees engage in continuous worship, chanting, and reading of Sai Baba’s teachings and stories.
